Janice wa Moses: Chapati sausage!

In her own words…

I began trying out this recipe years ago while in high school. Started off combining a left over chapati and a fried egg separately to have for breakfast on Saturday mornings since they always had Chapati on Friday evening (and I love both chapatis and eggs). Then I thought to coat the chapati with the egg and fry them together. Sausage was an addition that came later on. It was just another fun thing I discovered that I could do with eggs, sausage and chapati.

start by removing the sausages from the casing, place in mixing container and mash with a fork
peel the skin off the sausages and place them in a dish where you can easily mash them with a fork…

This is a dish that can be had for breakfast or as a hearty snack. It can be quite filling and is a good way to use left over chapatis.

Ingredients:
1 left over chapati
1 egg
2 sausages
1 tsp margarine
Condiments + herbs of your choice

then add one beaten egg, a tablespoon of ketchup,
then add one beaten egg and your preferred condiment, I used about half a teaspoon of ketchup
then mix in,...
then mix in herbs and spices of your choice, I put in a pinch of paprika and some mixed herbs
pour a generous amount on the chapo
pour and spread the mix onto your chapati. When done, you’re ready to move to the frying pan
spread it evenly
spread it evenly
warm some margarine on a frying pan and spread it out, place the coated chapati on it upside down so that the sausage side cooks first
with your pan on medium-low heat, melt a half teaspoon of margarine on it and flip your chapati face down onto the pan (NOTE: This requires some dexterity in order not to pour the mix all over!)

Once you have the chapati safely in the pan , cook for 5-8 minutes until the egg and sausage are done. Spin the chapati to ensure that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Lift it up at the edges to check the progress. Flip it over for 2-3 minutes to allow the other side to heat through as well. Keep spinning

keep the heat medium to low, don't want it to burn before it cooks all the way through. After about 3 minutes check it, if it's ready, flip it over
the chapati sausage is done when it is a nice golden-brown colour
once the chapati side warm up a little it's done, serve with a cup of hot chocolate!
once the chapati side warms up a little, plate it and serve with a cup of hot chocolate!

Moses’ Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆
still needs some experimentation to find the perfect condiment+spice combo!

Thank you Janice! (^_^)

Yes, some serious creative genius! I don’t think I could have come up with this (^_^) Looks really tasty too, brings together three things we already love; chapatis, sausages, eggs — what more can one ask for?!
