Chocolate cake

My friend Nahuja came over to help me. She’s such a bright person, always full of energy. She’s also an artist, you can have a look at some of her work here. She’ll be part of an exhibition soon, I’m very excited for her.

She also loves chocolate cake! Cooking with friends is so much fun! She did all the mixing, I took pictures and talked a lot (^_^)

mix oil, sugar and cocoa

2 cups flour
½ cup liquid oil
1½ cup sugar
1 cup sour milk
3 eggs
½ cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup hot water

First, mix the oil, sugar and cocoa

add the eggs and mix again!
then the sour milk
in it goes
in a separate container combine the remaining dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda)
add the dry mix to the wet mix. Then add the hot water.
When done the consistency should be one of a heavy liquid.

It’s now ready to bake. Pre heat the oven to 180°C. Pour the batter into a greased/buttered pan.

Bake for 30-40 min.

It is a lovely moist cake.

  1. I made this cake! DELICIOUS!!

Since I’ve got a home of 8 cake-lovers, I doubled the quantities but used less sugar (2 cups rather than 3) and eggs (5 instead of 6 – I thought it might taste eggy…). I used 2 cake tins. 1 tin actually overflowed – should have seen me frantic at the oven! I guess the tins were too small. LOL
One cake was gone in seconds.

But all in all great recipe! Thanks Pendo la Mama!
