Eggplant and pumpkin veggie side
Isn’t that a beautiful specimen of a pumpkin? My mother sent it to me, it is from her garden. One day when I own my own home I’d love to keep a garden like my parents do. It’s not just pretty with flowers, there’s plenty to eat. I remember when we were growing up there was always something you could snack from while in the garden, or pick to cook with. Mango, avocado and guava trees; rosemary and gooseberry bushes between the flowers; a few edible greens; passion fruit vine intertwined in the live fence,… Not all at the same time but there was always 3 or 4 things. Doesn’t it sound awesome though?

Tomato and aubergine chutney
An awesome dual purpose sweet and savoury chutney, can use it as a side for a meal or as a sauce over pasta. I suggest making a large quantity to store in a jar in the fridge and use up slowly over a couple of weeks. Great to have ready for the days when you need a quick meal — just make some pasta and voila!

So, it was time to make dinner and I was totally blank! I think the cooking part of my brain is still on vacation. Well, not completely, I’m thinking about making cookies and nuts, baking bread and making chapos. But I can’t combine any of that into a proper meal for dinner! Plus my kitchen still feels like I’m on vacation, I need to stock up on a few things. That’s probably the problem.
