Maru bhajias

9 / 16 / 169 / 15 / 16

One of my favourite things about living in a mixed culture environment (yes, Nairobi is very mixed!) is all the different foods you get to enjoy. Very evident in all the different kinds of restaurants that are thriving. Another is learning how to make the foods you love from other cultures so that you can have them on demand, in the comfort of your home! Yum yum! When it comes to the most loved and made foods from the asian community I would say Chapatis are number one, Maru Bhajias follow closely behind for me, they are just awesome!! I’m so glad I can finally make them at home too, on demand! Read on to learn how…

Spicy breakfast potatoes – easy!

7 / 1 / 163 / 31 / 16

I make bread and porridge and all the other good stuff for breakfast but I really like potatoes. I like that they last longer in the belly, if I eat at 7 I’m not hungry by 10 — I’ll still take that snack though!

Potato salad with sweetcorn & peas

10 / 21 / 147 / 20 / 15

Sometimes making a meal is a bit like painting… or at least I think about it like I’m painting. When I think a recipe I imagine the colours served on a plate and are they working? Making this potato salad was very much like that.

Creamy cauliflower potatoes

5 / 26 / 147 / 20 / 15

Been making an effort to serve whole meals, with all three parts, veggies, starch and protein. But potatoes with cauliflower on the side did not sound appetising. Too much white on the plate. So I mixed things up a bit…

Roasted chicken with mixed roots

3 / 31 / 147 / 20 / 15

Delicious all in one recipe! Requires quite a bit of prep work in the beginning. Cutting, chopping etc. But once all that is done the rest is easy. Most of the cutting can be done ahead of time too.
